Struktura sektora bankowego w wybranych krajach Bałkanów Zachodnich

Abstract

In the banking sector competition phenomenon has appeared later than inother economic sectors, but in contemporary conditions it is growing very rapidlyand often takes violent forms. Banking sectors differ in terms of competitive structures and concentration levels. The aim of the article is to present the structure of banking markets in selected countries of the Balkan Europe, undergoing transformation. The article is to answer the question of whether countries originating from the same roots, are developing banking market in terms of its structure in the same way. The study was conducted for the research period of 2004–2014, for the three sectors, Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia. They were divided into three groups of banks: small, medium and large, taking into account the number of operating banks, asset value and the level of market concentration.
